Supreme x Daniel Arsham x Uniqlo x Pokemon bootleg collab
The pokemon graphics were drawn by Daniel Arsham for a collaboration between Uniqlo and Pokemon, I cut the graphics out from the tshirts they were printed on and appliqued them onto a Supreme Jacket I no longer wore and gave to my brother as a Hanukkah gift.
The tinfoil serves a couple functions simultaneously. First it provides rigidity while I'm fussy cutting out the designs since they're on a knit, and second it serves as a sacrificial barrier between my ironing board cover and the fusibles' adhesive.
Playing with layout.
The shirt designs were a kind of vinyl/heat transfer material so I had to purchase a non-stick foot to applique them and not have a breakdown. Serendipitous-ly the non-stick foot was the sale foot of the month when I bought it.
I decided to secure the applique edges with a 6-strand blanket stitch. I wasn't worried the knit would ravel but I figured this would clean up the edges nicely. On the jacket I also included the text blurbs and artist signature to keep the provenance of the work intact. The grid behind Mew-Two was from when I was going to satin-fill all the squares in, but I decided against that. I used crayola washable markers and they work surprisingly well, highly recommend them.
